Today, Quvenzhané Wallis, star of this summer’s surprise hit Beasts of The Southern Wild, became the youngest person ever nominated for the Academy Award (commonly known as the ‘Oscar’)for best actress.

The film, which chronicles the fantastical experiences of a precocious little girl as the world she knows collapses around her, dazzled audiences this summer. In addition to Quvenshané’s nomination, Beasts of The Southern Wild director Benh Zeitlin was also nominated for Best Director, and the film was nominated for Best Picture of the year.

I know who I’ll be rooting for come Oscar time.
